Keywords:
President of Ministers Council, Parlamentarism, Political ElitesAbstract
The paper analyzes the recruitment system of the political elites of the Italian Republic based on the analysis of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, which is a key institution in the set of parliamentary-type political systems. . The research starts from the conceptual definition of the fundamental elements of the Italian political system since 1948 and analyzes the personal, educational, professional and political variables that define the profile of the 30 Presidents of the Council of Ministers. The article confirms that the 30 heads of government that have existed in Italy between 1946 and 2021 have been characterized by a very broad professional and, above all, political qualification, as well as by the existence of centralist and endogamous parameters in the recruitment spaces.
